Courtney and Nicholas met in seventh grade and from that moment on, he unceasingly pursued her. One day he left his basketball with her…that clever idea where you create a reason to see your crush again. Soon after, she fell for him too.
Toward the middle of her pregnancy he was deployed and they said a short term goodbye…the Mother’s day card he had delivered read, “take care of my basketball until I get home.” And that’s just what she did.
Adalyn was born as he was traveling back from Jordan and he met her at Madigan hospital at one day new. It was such an honor to be invited into their birth space and document the birth of their daughter so that he would be able to see the story through photographs.
Nicholas was able to stay home for one week before being re-deployed and I visited their home to document life as a family of three.
So tender, so real…beautiful, Anna!
